1. Stock Up on Healthy Foods

Mostly, young kids eat what is available in the fridge and pantry. This is why it would be best to control supply lines. One way to do that is to make it easier for your kids to choose low-sugar treats or snacks by preparing vegetables and fruits. Active kids experience different health benefits, such as increased fitness, heart health, better sleep, and stronger bones/muscles.

Including regular physical activities as part of your daily routine will also positively impact your overall mental health. Making exercise part of life means your kids will likely take it forward into adulthood, minimizing the risks of illnesses.

4. Get Enough Sleep

Consistent bedtime routines are crucial to any child’s health. Kids in kindergarten through grade five need 9-11 hours of sleep.

Quality sleep is often associated with eating habits and the capability to fight off illnesses or infections. Not having quality sleep increases cravings for unhealthy junk food and may lead to increased risks of disease, temper tantrums, and mood swings.

5. Keep Your Kids Hydrated

Ensure your children hydrate their bodies with plenty of water and snacks, such as frozen juice pops or watermelon. At the same time, limit sugar snacks/drinks and everything that contains caffeine.

Children require more water in their bodies as they are always active. For instance, 10 to 12-year-old kids need around eight-ounce cups of water daily but should be more if they exercise.

It isn’t too late to start raising your children with healthy habits. You can begin by teaching your kids about better for you snacks, getting enough sleep, keeping their body hydrated, limiting screen time, and exercising.
